Wanja Kimani, Kenyan artist living in London and Addis Abeba came for a 8 day stint to collaborate with Mihret kebede.

 

2011

November

Venu Dhupa , the Director for Creative Development at Creative Scotland paid us a short but productive visit. Loads of information and loads of ideas, especially we are enheartened about the great interest in international collaboration.

Mark Inglis, first man in the world who climbed Mount Everest despirte having lost both his legs to frost bites in his early twenties. Mark gave a talk to some 80+ people in the Gordon Arms Hotel and visited both the Gordon Schools and the Gordon Primary School. The next day he joined us for a 10k walk as part of Norma Hunter's Its knot magic project. Organised as part of the OXTGEN programme of Creative Scotland by the Royal Commenwealth Society.

Simon Preston, Gastromonist, who looked at a signature menu for our town and came up with the great idea of 'the town is the menue'. Watch this space.

Indian textile artist Priya Ravish Mehra joined us for a week long research trip, this will inform her project she will be conducting with Deveron Arts later in the year.   

Limiti Inchuisi, an Italian collective based in Molise, on their whistle stop tour of Scotland. Deirdre MacKenna, Director of Stills, accompanied the group.

Donna Holford-Lovell Director of new Dundee based Fleet Collective and Neon Festival popped in for a chat and a tour of the Town Collection whilst she was in the area with her family.

Alec Finlay and Ken Cockburn

Alec and Ken engaged Huntly in an evening of stories and readings from their latest project 'The Road North' on the 28th of April

Anderson-McGee (Briony and Paul) paid us a short visit on 26 April. We hope to Haste ye back!

March

Andrew Dixon, Chief Executive of Creative Scotland visited us on 22/23 March for an ARTachat hosted by Rocca Gutteridge on the topic of Oil, Neeps and Stony Ballads discussing past and future of the Arts in Aberdeenshire.

Wanja Kimani, photographer from Nairobi joined us for a two week residency in from 15 – 31 March.

Jan-Georg Deutsch, Prof of African History gave a talk about the History of West-Africa on 17 March.

 

2010:

In partnership with Peacock Visual Arts we welcomed Jay Koh in October 2010.  Jay was tasked with reviewing the cultural diversity of the two organisation though worked more closely with Peacock Visual Arts.
