Music for Streetfights

Garry Williams is a contemporary artists from Glasgow, who has been with Deveron Arts throughout spring 2008. His performance Music for Streetfights was a response to binge drinking cultures, in particular the spectacle of alcohol fuelled violence witnessed every weekend in communities across Scotland. Using a loud speaker equipped van, he drove around the streets of Huntly late at night playing soothing music to dispel and discourage aggression.

"My response to these experiences/events is to create a possible antidote to the violence by providing a soundtrack that may transform the brutality into a form of choreography much in the same way as music is used in cinema."
