We all know: walking + cycling is healthy, reduces traffic congestion, and reduces carbon emissions. With the community of Huntly, Glasgow artist Jacqueline Donachie will look at opportunities for new work that is mobile, out on the streets and part of daily life. There is talk of a safe bike lane, but who knows what it would look like? Her proposition is a community cycle drawing that might show us all. Using a smart attachment for cycle wheels a ribbon of colour criss-crossing the town is created by the townsfolk and visitors. The necessary road and parking restrictions will perhaps begin a discussion about mobility and car use in our towns. This community performance is part of a wider cycling and walking festival with story walks, cycling workshops, special trips and tracks, a symposium on car-free-towns and a solstice fire on top of the hill…

Arts Breakfast with Richard Demarco, Sat 16 May 2009, 10 am
Richard Demarco has given an illustrated talk about Joseph Beuys' visits and activities in the Ranoch Moor and elsewhere in Scotland, where he developed the thought of the tree as an element of regeneration as a concept of time in itself.
Arts Breakfasts are a series of social events to trigger networking and discussion among the arts community in the North East of Scotland. This breakfast is part of Deveron Arts Slow Down programme with lead artist Jacqueline Donachie.
'I think the tree is an element of regeneration which in itself is a concept of time.' (Joseph Beuys).
