WINTER

Christmas Fairs

At the beginning of December in 2005 and 2006 Deveron Arts manned a stall in Huntly square when the Christmas lights get switched on. Mulled wine is served and Deveron Arts merchandise is available.

In 2005 Deborah designed a mug for the mulled wine to be served in entitled 'Import(ance) of Trad(e)ition'.

In 2006 she ran a workshop with some children from The Gordon Schools creating crafts from found objects and making Christmas cards based on the likes and dislikes of the season. These items were for sale on the stall.

Most of us seem to have a love/hate relationship with Christmas. What better object to iterate that than the brussel sprout! Deborah decorated the Christmas Tree at the Brander Library with garlands of brussel sprouts and chocolate dollar coins as well as creating a tower of sprouts after a well known chocolate sweet advert for a table decoration.

Santa in the Woods

Santa in the Woods involved a collaboration with the Forestry Commission to help create atmosphere for a Santas' Grotto in the Bin Forest.

Mardi Gras

Pancake Day and Mardi Gras are the same festival but Mardi Gras always seems more enthralling than the mundane aspects of having a few pancakes. To spice up Shrove Tuesday Deborah worked with a 3rd year class at Gordon Schools to produce some Mardi Gras costumes for a pancake race. Unfortunately as is typical of this time of year in Huntly (28th February) the snow fell very heavily and the school was closed for a week.

The costumes having been made Deborah decided to do a photo shoot instead with the children posing  in Pre-Raphealite images. These images were then introduced into Deborahs' collages which were exhibited later in the year.

Kiss Kiss

For Valentines Day 2006 Deborah created a small installation outside the gents loos in Huntly. Two sentinels stood at the toilet entrance holding bunches of roses watching passers- by through clockwork eyelashes and clockwork lips.
