Deborah Beeson was invited to be ‘Artist for all Seasons’ in the town for a period of two years, starting in Sept 2005. Spontaneity and improvisation lie at the heart of Deborah's practice with an emphasis on making. Making craft objects, making food, making clothes are all synonymous with seasonal tradition. Through her own making processes and experiments with domestic and found materials, Deborah advocates that creativity comes through giving oneself permission to play. With this in mind Deborah has set up a series of projects and workshops which encourage the local population to 'play and make' based on seasonal themes and present their creations in collaboration with the artist in varying ways.
