Gemuce’s project Money Crunch paralleled the local and international contexts of personal debt. He highlighted economic situations through an ongoing performance process which included touring Huntly as an African Santa Claus and manning a continental market stall at the Huntly Hairst Festival. Calabash Bank, the final artwork in the project, was launched in the Square during Huntly's Christmas celebrations. People were invited to cash-in their ideas in return for calabashes; vine fruit from the southern hemisphere that are dried and hollowed out as containers, musical instruments, lamps.
